Abadi is a specialized journal in the fields of architecture and urbanism, affiliated with the Deputy of Urban Development and Architecture of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran. It is among the earliest journals published in these fields after the Islamic Revolution, with its first issue released in 1994 (1373 in the Iranian calendar). The main objective of Abadi is to expand thought, theory, and approaches related to architecture and urbanism, and to apply and generalize them within the everyday life of citizens.

Attention to temporal and spatial contexts, the lived experiences embedded in Iran's civilizational heritage, culture, and intangible legacy—combined with a forward-looking perspective and a focus on contemporary urban life, as well as engagement with global experiences—can serve as a guide in achieving these goals.

The articles published in Abadi examine the past and present of architecture and urbanism in both Iran and the world. Thus, the journal serves as a suitable platform for publishing scholarly works by students, graduates, and researchers in fields such as architecture, urban and regional planning, restoration of historic cities and buildings, urban design, history and studies of Iranian architecture and cities, urban sociology, urban economics, and urban law. Articles may adopt research-based, case study, methodological, or applied approaches. Abadi gives publication priority to papers that address current issues and concerns and offer new findings. The journal is published in both electronic and print formats.

Abadi is a fully open-access journal, and all articles are made immediately available to users through its online platform. Non-commercial use and distribution in any media are permitted upon publication, provided proper credit is given to both the author and the journal. All Persian-language submissions undergo initial similarity screening using the Samim Noor plagiarism detection system. The journal follows the American Psychological Association (APA) style for citation and referencing. All intellectual property rights remain with the author, and the journal adheres to the Executive By-law of the Law on the Prevention and Counteraction of Academic Fraud.
